Boston hardcore that’s like a perfect blend of THE FIX and early POISON IDEA through the lens of Scandinavian DISCHARGE homage, this eleven song punch in the face opens with ‘Overthrow’ that sounds like an out-take from ‘Pick Your King’, and continues through songs such as ‘Truth Denial’ like a modern day version of ‘Jan’s Rooms’.
With stark cover art, not a million miles away from ‘Why’, and a title describing the precipice where humanity seems to be standing right now (a vile brew of fanaticism meets mass murder), and the lyrics to the title track and songs like ‘Propagandist’ reflect this to complete the picture.
No messing about musically, the guttural vocals compliment the drum thud and searing POISON IDEA meets DISCHARGE style guitar attack perfectly, and comes off like other modern classic hardcore out of Massachusetts such as OUT COLD or LAST IN LINE. ‘Standing at the Mouth of Hell’, like this review, is over before you know it.
Hammer some of this into yer skull.
